Bad Wildungen is a therapeutic spa town whose famous hot springs are rich in iron, magnesium, and carbonic acid, making it one of the more celebrated ‘medicinal water’ towns in Germany. Bad Wildungen has built a thriving tourist legacy around this initial industry; today, it is home to a thriving medical/therapeutic community that specializes in rehabilitation, from orthopedics to neurology, from internal medicine to psychosomatic illness, from urology to international medicine, rheumatology, and gerontology services.
Museums
The Claremont Hotel in Bad Wildungen is accessible to some Bad Wildungen museums. The most popular of these museums in Bad Wildungen is the Quellenmuseum, or Spa Museum, which details many of the reasons why Bad Wildungen is known as the Wellness Capital of Germany.
Other museums in or close to Bad Wildungen include the local history museum Heimatmuseum and the Bertsch Visitors’ Mine museum. At Schloss Friedrichstein, one can visit theKassel State Museums’ Museum for Military and Hunting History (Museum für Militär und Jagdgeschichte der Staatlichen Museen Kassel) and the Lapidarium mineral display. Nearby Odershausen is home to the "Living Museum," and Albertshausen houses the "Galerie am Kump.”
Arts and the Theatre
The Kurhaus Bad Wildungen - Bad Wildungen Spa House – is the main center of arts and culture here. It is often the venue for plays and music concerts, usually featuring visiting artists in various musical genres, including jazz, folk, and samba. The Wildunger Musik-Werkstatt (Wildungen Music Workshop) is a choir with a tradition that goes back generations
Festivals & Other Events
The Claremont Hotel in Bad Wildungen, Hesse, Germany, is located in one of Germany’s most gracious towns. Festival of Lights. The Festival of Lights is held in Bad Wildungen in the second week of August. On this night, over 15,000 candles are lit in the town’s spa gardens, creating a truly magical atmosphere and setting the stage for an evening of romance.
The Cider Festival in Bergfreiheit, traditionally believed to be the home of Snow White, is held on the second Sunday of October in Dorfpark. Cider is given the full spotlight on this festival, as events ranging from cider brewing to wooden decorations and woven straw goods celebrate the various cottage industries devoted to one of Germany’s most beloved drinks.

Bad Wildungen Architecture
The Schloss Friedrichstein is a sprawling centuries-old estate that stands above Bad Wildungen. Completed by Prince Friedrich Anton Ulrich zu Waldeck sometime between 1707 and 1714, the Schloss Friedrichstein took more than 40 years to build.
Several buildings in the heart of Bad Wildungen speak of this spa town’s rich historical heritage. A town church dating back to the 14th century features a winged altar by legendary German painter Konrad von Soest; several villas dating back to the founding of Bad Wildungen still stand to this day.
The Art Nouveau-inspired Fürstenhof, now a popular wellness center, was once a hotel; prior to that, it was a home for one of Germany’s prominent families.
The Bad Wildungen Spa Park
The Bad Wildungen Spa Park is of particular interest to tourists because of its green bridge connection to the Reinhardshausen Spa Park. Combined, both spa parks stretch almost 50 hectares, making the Reinhardshausen-Bad Wildungen Spa Parks Europe’s largest spa park.
Bad Wildungen Natural Attractions
Mountains. Bad Wildungen is home to some of the region’s more scenic mountains. The 518 meter-high Homberg, is easily scalable, and affords guests to this German spa town an outstanding view of the area. The even higher Wüstegarten (675 meters) near Bergfreiheit, one of Bad Wildungen's outlying communities, is another nearby mountain worth exploring, as are the Bilstein Cliffs near Reizenhagen.
Forests and Foot Trails. Bad Wildungen is a hiker’s paradise, with at least three world-class forests and hiking trails for the backpacker and national exploration enthusiast. The Das Paradies forest near near Albertshausen, Gellershausen and Kleinern more than lives up to its name (Das Paradies means "The Paradise" in German), thanks to unique flora and fauna, pristine foot trails, and dense foliage cover. Also near Albertshausen is an old beech forest, located in Halloh’s grazing forest (more popular known as Hutewald); three anchient dwarf beeches may also be found at Jägersburg, (“Hunter’s Castle”) near the Odershausen Waterfalls. Finally, the 167 km-long Kellerwaldsteig, one of the country’s three finest hiking trails, starts and finishes in Bad Wildungen.
Bad Wildungen Sport Clubs
Sports enthusiasts looking to watch – or even play – with German locals will find Bad Wildungen more than appropriate, thanks to two local clubs: Verein für Leibesübungen Bad Wildungen (Bad Wildungen Exercise Club) and the Turnverein Friedrichstein (The Friedrichstein Gymnastics Club), both of which have regular football and handball matches.
Bad Wildungen Regional Specialties
In Bad Wildungen, German cuisine is given a bit of a twist, thanks to its heritage and standing as Germany’s Wellness Capital. For instance, schepperlinge, a kind of pancake made primarily with potatoes, is served in Bad Wildungen with onions, bacon, and black coffee. Sausages – another popular German staple – are served here; ask for ahle worscht, or ‘old sausage.’ You won’t be disappointed.
Bad Wildungen Transportation
The Federal Highways B485 and B253 – known as Bundesstraßen – connect guests to the Autobahn A49. Regional Rail services also include Bad Wildungen in their itineraries: the Sackbahnhof Bad Wildungen station via Kassel and Wabern is your best bet. Bus services are also available.
